Lion Frank O’Dea was a charter member of the Lions Club of Ennis and played a key role as Editor of the Clare Champion in the first major project the Club undertook – the provision of an Intensive Care Unit in the local General Hospital. He was an active volunteer up to recent years until struck down by illness. He received a deserved Melvin Jones Award at the 2003 MD Convention, presented by International President KK Fukushima. | Lion Tom Mannion was a charter member of the Club in 1977, Tom served as 4th President in 1980/81 and was an active PRO for many years. Less than 3 years ago he was the
initial driving force behind the Club’s Jigs & Reels project which has raised € 100,000 in the intervening period. Tom was a complete community man being actively involved in many voluntary and charity bodies and was presented with a local community award 2 years ago. Our deepest sympathy to his wife Brighid and family. He will be greatly missed inside and outside Lions. |
