The following is the obituary published in the District Governor's Newsletter of March 2005 to mark the sad occasion of Tommy McEvoy's death.

"Lion Tommy McEvoy, 80, died at Ennis General Hospital, much of which he had helped maintain in his Lionistic years. A Charter Member of the Lions Club of Ennis and a Lion for in excess of 30 years, Tommy will be best remembered for his work at Mosney and his quiet way of seeing that things got done. As well as being a Charter Member of the Lions Club of Ennis, Tommy was a Past President and a Melvin Jones Fellow." The Lions Club decided to purchase a chair for use by relatives of patients in hospital, in memory of Lion Tommy McEvoy who died in 2005. Unfortunately Tommy spent lengthy spells in hospital in the last few years of his life. We have purchased two chairs at a cost of €2,000, and we have placed one in Ennis General Hospital and one in Cahercalla Community Hospital.
